28 week checkup......

Hi everyone! I had my 28 week checkup this past Tuesday and everything is good! Apparently, I'm going into my 29th week (as of Tuesday), according to them....I can't keep up it seems like! But, I just counted the remaining weeks on my calendar and they are right, obviously. My 40th week will be fully finished on Feb 9th, my due date. I get it now! Lol.....am I really ready to become a mom??!! Ha!
Everything went well during the appointment. After measuring my belly, she actually said that it was the perfect size. Well there! So, as round as I may feel in my face (most days I feel pretty fit and small for being 7 months along!) and as for all those people who tell me how big I am (uh, thanks?), you heard it from the midwife's mouth....perfect size belly, people!!

Can I just tell you how weird it still is to look at pictures of me now with this belly and actually realize that it's really me?? This is really happening right now?!

Oh, back to the appointment. I also went so that I could get a shot of Rhogam in my butt. Basically, I am RH-. For those of you who don't know, only 4% of the population is RH-. I am so special! Yeah. This means that:

While the mother's and baby's blood systems are separate there are times when the blood from the baby can enter into the mother's system. This can cause the mother to create antibodies against the Rh factor, thus treating an Rh positive baby like an intruder in her body. If this happens the mother is said to be sensitized.

A sensitized mother's body will make antibodies. These antibodies will then attack an Rh positive baby's blood, causing it to breaking down the red blood cells of the baby and anemia will develop. In severe cases this hemolytic disease can cause illness, brain damage and even death.

On that note.....that is why I needed the shot. How crazy is that?! Just my luck, hey?! But all in all, everything is fine and the little dude is doing well (oh, a heartbeat of 145bpm...which is good).

He's been moving around quite a bit lately, especially when I lay down for a nap or when I'm going to sleep at night. Recently, I've been listening to music with him. I put one earbud from my iPod in my belly button and the other in my ear and we listen to artists such as Donavon Frankenreiter, Jack Johnson, Grace Potter, and anything else that is relaxing. I tried to get a video of my belly moving around when doing this, but I'm not sure you can see him moving in it like I can. I'll try again and get it posted. It's so crazy to see!

Love you all!
