Wow! Has time flown by! As of today, I am exactly 5 weeks from our due date of February 9th. I think I've said this before, but the beginning of this pregnancy seemed to move a lot slower. And now, all of a sudden, it's cruising by! I'm still feeling pretty good. And I'm still trying to go to the gym for some cardio. I have, however, stopped going to my spin classes. Even though I was taking it easy during them, I am a little nervous that they might get the little guy too worked up and he'll decide to make an early appearance! Not quite ready for that! My feet and ankles are a little swollen. And the pressure from the baby's head (and his weight alone) on my pelvis is making that area fairly sore. Besides the fact that it is also making me feel like I have to pee anytime I'm standing up or walking!! I am noticing that it's taking me a little longer to do things, such as getting up from sitting down, walking, putting on socks and shoes, etc. I can see where women just can't wait for this time to be over. I'm not quite there yet, but I can see why they feel that way now! But all of these are so menial, compared to what I'm getting in return, that I could never think about complaining!
Also, I had a midwife appt on 12/29. And everything's good! She was able to tell me that the placenta is in the back, like on the inside of me, and the baby is in the front. Which would help explain all of the good "shows" I get during the day when he's active and moving all around. And the baby is, of course, still head down. Another good thing. And his heartbeat was normal. When he was resting or not moving, it'd be around 120 bpm. Then he'd move slightly, and it'd jump to 145bpm! How crazy! I'm amazed at how much they can tell just from feeling around on my stomach. It's a crazy thing, producing a baby!! My next appt is next week Thursday. And then after that, I'll be going weekly. Woo hoo!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful New Year's and that those resolutions are being kicked into high gear! I'm looking for much relaxation this month, that's my resolution. I slept until 2pm on New Year's day.....so, so far so good! Other than some more birthing classes, a hospital tour, and midwife appts, I plan on laying low and resting up.
Love
Aim
